Yet another landmark has been achieved as the government converted the brick kilns of Punjab into zig-zag technology in record of six months. There are total of 7896 traditional brick kilns in Punjab, which ran on smog causing fossil fuels. This environmentally smart zig-zag technology helps in reducing the breath chocking carbon emissions by 60 percent and save energy by 30 percent.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the Ministry of Climate Change, Malik Amin Aslam, played a vital role in this shift. Their vision of clean and green Pakistan is becoming a reality, which indeed will go a long way in cutting down the emissions and resolve the issues of global warming.

Malik Amin Aslam mentioned that these brick kilns used coal, shoe soles, rubber as fuel, emitting lethal black carbon emissions into the atmosphere. These are mostly located in the urban areas and contribute significantly to air pollution.

PM emphasized that the black carbon is a major component of soot from brick kilns that is produced by the incomplete combustion of fossil fuels and biomass. He also elaborated that it is known for planet warming and it is stronger and dangerous than CO2. This black carbon is so adversative that it had impact on both, the atmospheric warming and increased melting rates which is a threat to the glaciers in the north of the country.

Due to Prime Minister’s encouragement and personal attention, country is making some important strides to deal with the issues of climate change.
