Pakistan enters partial lockdown from 8-16 May as Eid-al-fitr comes near. Officials suggest that lockdown is necessary to deal with potential danger from 3rd wave of coronavirus given India’s catastrophic surge in cases.

Prime minister Imran Khan has implemented nationwide partial lockdown to keep the virus from spreading, saying last month he wanted to avoid such implementations because of the harm it could do to the economy.

All non-essential businesses and travel sites to stay closed for the next ten days. Aside from that all picnic places, parks, beaches to stay closed for public except for the necessary services; bakeries, pharmacies, food and milk shops etc.

 According to the health ministry, 4,109 positive cases were reported in Pakistan on Saturday whereas the actual number of infected patients is expected to be higher due to low reporting rate.

Local and inter-city transport has been restricted to private transport, buses and trains with limited capacity.
