Convention Center, June 5th 2021, held the event of World
Environment Day which was hosted by Pakistan under the supervision of Prime
Minister Imran Khan.
It was first time in
history of Pakistan that Pakistan had hosted the event partnership with United
Nation Environment Program (UNEP). Pakistan has been on upfront in battling the
climate change with tremendous efforts put into initiative to protect the environment
and mitigate the change in the climate taking place all over the world.
Under the strict
guidelines of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, 10 billion Tree Plantations was
begun on the emergency basis which became the necessity for Pakistan, as at
this time with all the urban expansion and decrease in minimum forest areas
reserved for each country by the UN.
Pakistan is one of the
top 10 countries most affected by the climate change and global warming. Since
the beginning of this event in 1970, Pakistan successfully hosts this event for
the first time with its incredible efforts and measures in fighting the climate
change.
At the event, leaders
from all over the world addressed and spoke on the World Environment and their
countries effort in past years to combat the climate change. In keeping view of
Covid-19, leaders’ addresses were aired online.
The event itself is a remarkable achievement of the world to come together on one page in combating the problem which is an equal threat to everyone. In addition, Pakistan hosting this event pave the way for encouragement to continue the journey it has started while now being on the frontline news, all over the world.
