On Monday morning, two passenger trains collided in Daharki, a city in Sindh, due to which almost 40 people were killed and 100 others were injured.

According to officials, the accident took place on Monday morning at 3:30 am after Millat express train loaded with hundreds of passengers derailed and landed on another track and collided with Syed express train which was also packed with passengers coming from Rawalpindi.



Officials also added that Millat express train was headed from Karachi to Sargodha and collided with a train coming from Rawalpindi near Reti railway station in Ghotki, Sindh. The reason behind derailment is not confirmed for now. A senior official in Ghotki district confirmed almost 40 people were killed in the accident. The rescue teams and helpline arrived immediately at the location, 38 dead bodies along with several others in critical condition were shifted to a nearby hospital.

Due to the collision, six railway carriages were derailed and five were overturned of Millat express train. Whereas, two railway carriages of Syed express train were derailed and three were totally smashed. SSP Umar Tufail told the reporters that 15-20 people were still stuck in one of the coaches. For this reason the death toll is likely to increase.
